England women led by Heather Knight won the toss and elected to bowl first. The match was place at Hagley Oval at Christchurch.
Alyssa Healy’s 170-run knock helped Australia to 356/5 in 50 overs while batting first. Rachael Haynes contributed 68 runs off 47 deliveries, while Beth Mooney made 62 runs off 47 deliveries.
Anya Shrubsole, who picked up three wickets and conceded 46 runs, was England’s top bowler.
While England lost early wickets while chasing the massive target, Natalie Sciver defied the onslaught of Australian bowlers to achieve a magnificent 148 runs not out off 121 balls.
Sciver didn’t get much help from the other end, as wickets continued to tumble and England was dismissed for 285 in 43.4 overs.
Alana King and Jessica Jonassen both took three wickets for Australia, while Megan Schutt took two wickets.

Alyssa Healy was named the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 Player of the Tournament and Player of the Match after her record-breaking innings of 170 runs off only 138 deliveries. Healy surpassed Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist’s world record of 149 against Sri Lanka in 2007 to set a new world record for the highest-ever individual score in a World Cup final by a man or woman.
Karen Rolten, a former Australian cricketer, had previously set the record for the greatest individual score by a woman in a World Cup final (107 not out against India in 2005).
