The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 has been kicked off in New Zealand in March and April 2022, and will be the twelfth edition of the tournament, know the highest run scorer
It was originally slated for 6 February to 7 March 2021, but because to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed by one year. The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed on December 15, 2021, that the tournament will begin on March 4, 2022, with the final on April 3, 2022.
New Zealand qualified as hosts automatically, with the ICC Women’s ODI Rankings determining all other qualification spots. Originally, three more teams from the 2017–2020 ICC Women’s Championship would qualify, but this was modified to four in 2018.
The remaining three spots were supposed to be determined by the 2021 Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier, which was postponed until 2020. However, the competition was called off in the middle, and the remaining spots were distributed according to WODI standings.
After winning their first five matches in the tournament, Australia were the first team to qualify for the semi-finals.
