UAE Cricket Stadium And Venues For ICC T20 World Cup 2021
Dubai International Stadium, Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Sharjah Stadium
The Dubai International Cricket Stadium: recognized as the Dubai Sports City Cricket Stadium in the past, is among three cricket grounds in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. With a capacity of 25,000 seats, unlike other stadiums, this one features a circular rooftop. This stadium hosted its inaugural One-Day International (ODI) game in April 2009, between Pakistan and Australia.
Many more encounters have been contested here, including a famous England collapse to spin, which ended in a 10-wicket loss to Pakistan. This is a very excellent stadium with a unique feature that stands out which refers to its floodlights as the “Ring of Fire.”
Sheikh Zayed Stadium
It is an Abu Dhabi multi-purpose stadium. The stadium approximately cost $2.5 million for construction. It has a capacity of bearing 20,000 people with a well-equipped infrastructure. The stadium, which is a newer site in Sharjah, has floodlights. In April 2006, India and Pakistan competed in a ‘Friendship Series.’
The stadium opened in May 2004 and hosted an exclusive first-class match in November, when Scotland faced Kenya in the Intercontinental Cup. The site is in a rural region, roughly 30 minutes drive from the city center. The stadium does not have a pavilion, but it does have spacious changing rooms underneath one of the stands, and teams watch from within air-conditioned glass panels.
Sharjah Stadium
The Sharjah Cricket Association Ground has a seating of 27,000 spectators. Recently, barely any significant game has been conducted on this pitch. The recently constructed Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi has absorbed the prominence that Sharjah Cricket Association Ground formerly possessed.
After the match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in November 2011, it set a global record by being the first venue to host 200 One-Day Internationals (ODIs). The Ground has witnessed various historic games and one such was Sachin Tendulkar’s desert storm innings against Australia in Sharjah 1998.
