There will be 26 match officials for the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup opening round, which will include matches between the USA and the West Indies, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Friday.
Twenty umpires and six match referees have been chosen by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the showcase tournament’s first round. Twenty countries will compete in 55 matches over 28 days at nine different locations in the largest-ever ICC T20 World Cup. These teams will engage in intense competition with one another after being divided into four groups.

Meanwhile, the list of the umpires and match referees include some veterans as well as new additions to showcase their talent in officiating the matches. ICC Umpire of the Year Richard Illingworth, who won the David Shepherd Trophy in 2023, Chris Gaffaney, Paul Reiffel, and Kumar Dharmasena are among the experienced umpires.
In addition to Jeff Crowe, who has officiated 175 Twenty20 Internationals, and Andrew Pycroft, who is one match away from officiating 150 T20Is, the match referees’ crew welcomes back Ranjan Madugalle, who oversaw the 2022 Final.
Meanwhile, participating in their first senior men’s competition, Jayaraman Madanagopal, Sam Nogajski, Allahudien Paleker, Rashid Riaz, and Asif Yaqoob are commemorating an incredible career achievement.
This group of umpires and match referees will oversee the tournament’s ninth edition, which will feature 20 teams and 55 matches over the course of 28 days. Check out the list of umpires and referees selected for the T-20 World Cup 2024.
While the salary of the umpires in the world cup isn’t revealed yet, ICC T20 umpires get around Rs.1,20,000 per match of $1,500.
