ICC Player of the Month June 2021: Devon Conway and Sophie Ecclestone Awarded The Coveted Prize

Devon Conway of New Zealand and Sophie Ecclestone of England have been awarded as the ICC Player of the Month for June 2021

Conway received the accolade in front of teammate Kyle Jamieson.

South Africa’s Test captain Quinton de Kock, was another cricketer nominated for his strenuous contributions against the West Indies tour, stated the international cricket council statement (ICC).

Foremost Criteria For Winning The ICC Player of the Month Award For June 2021 

After a crackling debut in test cricket, Devon Conway will be the first player in New Zealand’s history to acquire the ICC men’s player of the month. His large and powerful double hundred on his debut versus England at Lord’s led to a draw in the match. 

The second test witnessed another vital half-century that drove New Zealand together for a successful series victory in England. He continued his inevitable form in the first ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final in Southampton with another half-century against India.

Sophie Ecclestone Sails Past Shefali Verma and Sneh Rana

Sophie Ecclestone on the other hand overwhelmed the Indian duo Sneh Rana and Shafali Verma to emerge as the second English women cricketer to conquer the ICC Player of the Month award right after Tammy Beaumont who achieved the feat in February 2021. 

The left-arm spinner, Sophie’s major triumph was the annual ICC Emerging Player of the Year award in 2018 and was the victorious one-off bowler against India in Bristol. She also obtained three wickets in each of the two ODIs post the test match.

Shefali Verma, the big-hitting opener, was nominated for a Player of the Match performance of 96 and 63 on debut in Bristol, as well as some helpful runs in the two subsequent ODIs. During the timeframe of Rana’s resilient  80 unbeaten saving the game, she bagged four wickets in her second innings and did not end up in disappointment.
