The ICC has unveiled its mascot duo for the forthcoming renowned event as the Cricket World Cup draws near and anticipation grows in response to the latest fixtures announcement.
The current U19 World Cup Champions’ captains, Yash Dhull and Shafali Verma, were present as the mascots were introduced at an event in Gurugram, India. The male and female mascots represent different characteristics that serve as emblems of both gender equality and diversity. They come from a far-off cricket utopia known as the Crictoverse.
Even the bravest hitters are in awe of the female character’s precise accuracy as she launches fireballs with a turbo-powered arm at breakneck speed. She has a supercharged fast bowling prowess due to her unrivalled reflexes, fierce flexibility, and ferocious determination.
She is decked out with a belt containing six power cricket orbs, each strategically prepared for different game-changing strategies, and she stands ever-prepared to ignite the match.
The male character emanates an identifiable fusion of high-voltage batting power and sub-zero calm. Every shot he makes, from seam-smashing sixes to deceptive elegance, reverberates with an electric energy that captivates viewers. His electric bat and wide range of shot options heighten the drama, lighting up the scene and electrifying the crease with each swing.
Through extensive surveys during the early phases of creation, fans were instrumental in influencing the mascots’ appearance.
Chris Tetley, the ICC’s Head of Events, commented on the mascots’ introduction saying:
We are delighted to launch the ICC’s mascot duo ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
“The perpetual characters signify cricket’s universal appeal beyond cultures and boundaries with the mascots standing as beacons of unity and passion. With representation of both genders, they epitomize the vital role of gender equality in our dynamic world.”
Further was said that these mascots have the potential to engage and amuse kids, developing a lifetime love for the sport outside of ICC events, in keeping with the ICC’s and cricket’s objective to connect with the next generation of cricket fans.
Throughout the buildup and the event, the mascot crew will engage with supporters in person, via broadcasts, and on digital channels. A variety of Crictoverse merchandise, including limited-edition mascot-themed products like sunglasses, is available for purchase by fans online and during events.
The spirit of the @cricketworldcup comes alive 🙌
