The Men in Blue lived up to expectations in the semi-final, with captain Rohit Sharma’s explosive 47 off 29 balls, followed by 80 from Shubman Gill and 105 by Shreyas Iyer, helping India reach a formidable total of 397.

The icing on the cake was Virat Kohli’s much-celebrated 50th century, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record. Fans erupted in joy as their cricket heroes delivered a stellar performance.

Live Screening

This marked the city’s inaugural ‘Fan Park,’ drawing cricket enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds, all draped in Tricolours and holding posters of cricket icons like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and Sachin Tendulkar. The live screening commenced around 1:30 p.m.

The chants of ‘India, India’ resonated as Virat Kohli approached his century, and even passersby near the Kali Mata temple joined the celebration. The youth danced to DJ tunes, took selfies, recorded videos on their phones, and shared them on social media platforms.

DJ Light Show & Food Stalls

The authorities went the extra mile, arranging a DJ, light show, and traditional drummers from Kerala to create a stadium-like atmosphere.

Food stalls added to the festive spirit. While some visitors suggested the ACA consider enlarging the screen for future matches, a contingent of police personnel ensured that attendees refrained from entering the waters at RK Beach.

Is Entry Free?

ACA Secretary S.R. Gopinath Reddy mentioned that entry to the fan park would be free, with a capacity for over 10,000 people. To enhance the experience and create a festive atmosphere, food stalls were set up.

Similar ‘Fan Parks’ were also scheduled for the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium, MG Road, Vijayawada, and Arts College Grounds. In addition, several hotels, restaurants, breweries, and coffee shops planned to live screen the final to attract visitors in the city.
