Following heavy backlash from cricket fans over their recent sales of tickets, the BCCI have announced more tickets.
BCCI announces release of 400,000 more tickets
The announcement comes just a few days after the BCCI had a ticket fiasco with their ticket sales. BCCI made the announcement in a media release stating how they acknowledge the high demand for tickets for the upcoming tournament. In the statement, the BCCI announced that they have released 400,000 tickets after having discussions with the hosting state associations.
The BCCI further encouraged fans to act quickly and secure their tickets for the upcoming event. Through the same announcement, the BCCI revealed that the general tickets sale for all matches of the ICC Menโs Cricket World Cup 2023 will start off at 8:00 PM IST on September 8, 2023. The BCCI have divided the sales of tickets for the India matches (excluding MasterCard users) in different phases. Given below are the different tickets sales phases:

BCCI ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 tickets sales fiasco
BCCI were recently embroiled in a ticket sales fiasco which started when the tickets for the non-warm-up matches first went on sale on August 31. Fans faced a number of issues throughout the entire booking process like the BookMyShow website not responding to users or waiting in the queue for over 2 hours and even up to 2 months.
However, fans ignored it because it was the first day of the sales, expecting the BCCI and BookMyShow to fix the issues in the future. However, things got more chaotic overtime as tickets for matches like India vs Australia and India vs Bangladesh got sold out in just some few minutes. Many fans were left frustrated after they had waited in the queue for hours.
Moreover, the tickets for the India vs South Africa match, which went live on sale on Septemer 2nd got sold out in under a minute. Aside from all these, the sale that angered fans the most was for the India vs Pakistan match. Many fans who waited for over 40 minutes were unable to book any tickets right after the sale window opened.
