Narain’s suspension came after Union Home Minister Amit Shah directed immediate strict action against the officer. A statement was released by the MHA, ” The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Sh. Jitendra Narain who is a senior IAS officer of AGMUT Cadre is under suspension with an immediate effect.”

IAS Officer Jitendra Narain Case
The Ministry has received a report on 16.10.2022 from the Andaman and Nicobar Police of the alleged sexual assault of a lady by Jitendra Narain. The reports indicated the possibility of grave misconduct and misuse of the official position. After getting all information the Union Home Minister directed to take strict immediate action against the Naraiya as per law.
The statement released, “Accordingly, Jitendra Narain, IAS has been placed under suspension with immediate effect and disciplinary proceedings have been ordered against him. The government is committed to make sure zero tolerance towards the acts of indiscipline by its officials irrespective of their rank and status, especially with regard to incidents involving the dignity of women. Also, an FIR has been lodged against Narain and action in the criminal case has also been taken separately by the SIT of Andaman and Nicobar Police.”
Who Is IAS Officer Jitendra Narain?
Jitendra Narain was born on the 19th of October in 1966 and he hails from the famous Raibahadur family of the Begusarai in Bihar. Presently Narain is 56 years of age. He did his schooling at St. Paul which is based in Darjeeling before acquiring his BA and MA in the subject of History degrees from St Stephens, Delhi University, India. The name of his wife and children is not known.
Narain is a 1990-batch IAS officer and joined as chief secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Island in March of 2021. He was recently appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of the Delhi Financial Corporation when the orders of his suspension were done by MHA. Jitendra also served for numerous years in the Delhi government under the Sheila Dikshit government earlier.

It is reported that a 21-year-old woman had accused Jitendra Narain of raping her along with her associates, and all the government officers in April and May this year. She had requested the police to retain the CCTV footage of the residence of Jitendra for evidence.
Based on her complaint, the Aberdeen police station in Port Blair registered a case on the 1st of October against the officer and RL Rishi who was posted as the labor commissioner in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
