“I said I wanted to take one!!!!,” Jack Grealish Hits Out At Suggestions He Shied Away From Taking A Penalty Against Italy

England midfielder Jack Grealish has finally replied to claims that he refused to step up as a penalty taker in the Euro 2020 final against Italy

The bruhaha surrounding English football ever since their defeat in the final of Euro 2020 has been colossal. Not only on the pitch but off it as well with the side’s supporters downing everything in their repertoire to dwindle and render redundant any lingering respect the country had on the international stage.

From booing Italy’s national anthem, beating Italian supporters, fighting amongst themselves and racially abusing their own players, English supporters spared no expense to be touted the scum of the Earth. Belittled for their unsavoury antics, the supporters were given a dressing down by everyone associated with the game.

However, the English players didn’t manage to escape without any abuse as well. Many had berated the senior players of the squad for their decision to shy away from penalties and ask 19 year old, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka to take the fifth one.

The penalty ultimately was saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma to give Italy the glistening trophy. In the aftermath of the incident, players like Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish and others were put to the sword for not agreeing to stand up when most needed.

Jack Grealish Refutes Penalty Allegations Against Him

However, Jack Grealish has finally opened up on what transpired on the night. Taking to Twitter, Grealish hit out at claims that he had refused to take a penalty with him asserting that he was more than ready to step up.

He also went onto add that despite his assurances, coach Gareth Southgate had decided to leave him out of the name of the main penalty takers. Southgate has often been lashed out at for his treatment of Grealish with many left fuming for his decision to keep Mason Mount on and give Jack Grealish frugal minutes in the summit clash.

Grealish is currently said to be the subject of a Manchester City transfer with a move set to be completed in the imminent days.
