I-League 2021-22 will make its return on 3rd March after a long break due to COVID-19, we take a look at the format and points table of the tournament
Since its inception in 2007, the I-League has run for 15 seasons. It will be the last season of I-League as the top division in the Indian football league system.
The competition was suspended on December 29, 2021, after the first match-week of the league began on December 27, 2021, due to reports of several COVID-19 cases among the players and staff. On February 1, 2022, the All India Football Federation announced new dates, with the league’s amended schedule kicking off on March 3rd.
I-League 2021-22 Restart Date, Schedule, Time, Fixtures And Results
I-League 2021-22 season will return on 3rd March 2022 with Deccan FC facing off against TRAU FC at Mohun Bagan ground. The match is scheduled to begin from 2 PM IST. The matches will be played across three venues namely: Mohun Bagan Ground, Kalyani municipal Stadium, and Naihati Stadium.

Because of the COVID-19 outbreak in India, all of the matches will be held in one location. On June 26, the AIFF named West Bengal as the host city.
I-League Format And Groups
The thirteen teams will play each-other in round-robin format during the Phase 1. After completion of Phase 1, top seven teams from the table will play in Group A at Phase-2. The remaining six teams will play in Group B.
According to the first-leg points table, the top seven teams will meet again in the Championship round, with the team with the most points from all seventeen matches being proclaimed the league winner and qualifying for the 2023 AFC Cup. The remaining five teams will compete in a relegation stage, with the team with the fewest points over all sixteen matches being relegated to the 2nd Division League.
