Gujarat Police arrest six individuals for selling beef-stuffed samosas
Local police in Gujarat arrested six individuals after finding them guilty of selling samosas stuffed with beef. Police officials conducted the raid at a samosa shop called ‘Huseni Samosa’, after receiving a tip-off from local animal activist Neha Patel, who raised initial concerns about the shop. Following the raid, authorities seized various items, including 350 kilos of beef, and conducted various forensic tests on the seized items.
Once the test results came out, showing hundreds of kilograms of beef-stuffed samosas, police officials apprehended the shop owners, Yusuf and Naeem Sheikh. Officials also arrested their four employees: Hanif Bhathiyara, Dilawar Pathan, Moin Habdal, and Mobin Sheikh in connection to the case. According to official reports, the accused operated secretly and supplied raw (Kaccha) samosas to various shops across the city. The group reportedly fried and sold the food products to unsuspecting customers as meat-filled delicacies.
DCP Panna Momaya reveals official report
DCP Panna Momaya of Gujarat Police revealed the extent of the operation, and highlighted how the accused operated. According to Panna, the accused distributed the beef-stuffed samosas across Vadodara from a five-story facility. The accused used one room as a deep freezer to store all their beef and other meats. While Yusuf Sheikh claimed that he was merely continuing his father’s samosa business, police officials discovered that the shop lacked the necessary licensing to operate.
Following the arrests, the court convicted the six accused individuals into one-day police custody, which sparked a lot of outrage. Many people felt that the six accused deserved more severe punishment based on the offences that they committed. Moreover, this is not the first time that such an incident has occurred, which highlights the need for stronger enforcement measures to combat the illegal sale of beef and its products.
