For the unversed, after a series of lengthy and frequent breaks because of the author’s health issue, the Hunter x Hunter manga is scheduled to return in October 2024.
Hunter x Hunter return release date revealed after hiatus
The much-awaited manga series, Hunter x Hunter, written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi, first started serialization in March 1998.
Over the course of years, the beloved manga has produced approximately 400 chapters, though now its progress has been slowed by Togashi’s debilitating back problems, which necessitated multiple hiatuses.
Hunter x Hunter Return Date
Earlier, during a recent livestream of Shonen Jump, the publishers released an announcement video featuring various characters from the manga. The now-viral video ended while announcing the release date of the new chapter of Hunter x Hunter.
For the curious, the much-awaited new chapter is set to be out on October 7, 2024, as part of issue 45 of the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

Reason for the Long Hiatus
The long hiatus in publication was a result of Togashi’s ongoing health struggles, which fans have largely supported, especially in light of Kentaro Miura’s tragic passing.
Miura’s death underscored the significant health risks in the manga industry, making Togashi’s prioritization of his well-being even more understandable.
While there has been no recent update on Togashi’s health, the manga’s return is a hopeful sign, suggesting that he may be in better condition.
Additionally, this comeback indicates that several new chapters might be in the works. Currently, the Hunter x Hunter manga is in the Succession Contest arc, with the last chapter, 400, released in 2022.
The upcoming chapter, 401, will continue the storyline and will be out in October, as aforementioned.
For the unfamiliar, Hunter x Hunter follows Gon Freecss, a young boy who becomes a Hunter, a title given to those who pass a perilous exam with a notoriously low success rate.
