2022 Hungarian Darts Trophy Day 2 Results, Venue, Draw, Tickets, And Final Day Schedule
On a stunning day of second-round play at the BOK Sportcsarnok on Saturday, Van Gerwen and Wright were among the ten seeds to lose, with Jonny Clayton and Luke Humphries being other notable casualties in Hungary. As his losing streak against Whitlock continued, top seed Van Gerwen blew 25 darts at double. Australia’s World Cup winner recorded a calm 13-dart hold in the decisive leg to advance. In the meantime, Wright missed two match darts in a nail-biting clash against Williams, who heroically came back from 5-3 down to win.
After Raymond van Barneveld missed one match dart at double 18 in the thrilling conclusion, Jose De Sousa completed a masterful 11-dart break to defeat the Dutch legend in the decisive last leg. De Sousa will now face Jeffrey De Zwaan on Sunday after the Dutchman hit five 180s to defeat Rob Cross 6-4 and maintain his chances of qualifying for the Cazoo European Championship.
Other than that, Nathan Aspinall held off Stephen Bunting’s late comeback to secure his spot in Sunday’s round of 16, punishing the St Helens star’s careless performance to complete a comfortable 6-3 victory. With a decisive victory over Daryl Gurney and a double-double 96 finish to advance to a third-round match against William O’Connor, Michael Smith quickly advanced to Sunday’s third round draw.
On Sunday afternoon, the third round will take place before the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final take place in a thrilling evening session in Budapest. Interwetten German Darts Open (ET11) will be held in the Sparkassen-Arena in Jena from September 9–11, following the culmination Hungarian Darts Trophy (ET10) in Budapest. Tickets can be purchased by the fans from here.
