What Exactly Happened in Chapter 2
Hilda prepares herself for the day ahead. She gains a lot of practical experience by helping pluck weeds alongside Emilie. Eventually, people start referring to her as a “expert” at weeding. Hilda, like everyone else, strives to maximize her earnings from tasks because money is crucial in any universe.
Hilda’s abrupt acceleration as she removes weeds catches everyone off guard. Additionally, she accidentally plucks a few flowers, which enrages the head maid because they are “The Widow’s Thrill” flowers, which the Count is particularly fond of. Her anger grows as she realizes it’s not just one flower but an entire bouquet scattered throughout the field.
Hilda apologizes to the head maid, but she tells her that she must pay for everything out of her salary for the day. The other housekeepers begin to remark on Hilda’s recent odd behavior. Worse, they make fun of Emilie for being with Hilda because of her clumsiness.
