Angel City FC signs Alyssa Thompson
Alyssa Thompson, a student at Harvard-Westlake high school has just signed a new deal with NSWL team Angel City FC. The 18-year-old speed sensation from Los Angeles plays an all-rounder forward. Just last week, she announced her eligibility to play in the NWSL and made history as well by becoming the number one draft pick.
Her height stands at 1.63m.
Number one draft pick
Alyssa added another achievement to her name by becoming the first high-schooler ever to become the Number one draft pick in the NWSL drafts. The teenage starlet was expectedly delighted with the news and shared:
It’s a crazy feeling. And I’m so happy that I get to be surrounded by my friends and family. I’m just really excited. My heart’s beating really fast.
National team debut
Alyssa Thompson has already made her USWNT debut last year against the current Euro Cup champions, England. Alyssa was just 17 years old during her debut.

18-year-old forward Alyssa Thomspson is an incredibly fast and very agile player. In fact, her new team Angel City FC described her as a “generational talent.”
Just recently, while competing in a race representing her school Harvard-Westlake, Alyssa ran 100 meters in just 11.74 seconds. This incredible record is just 2 seconds more than the current record-holder, Usain Bolt.
Her school coach Jonas Koolsbergen remarked:
It was a spectacular, great execution in bringing out her tremendous abilities and talent.
Eager to continue studying
Alyssa is just 18 years old and still currently in high-school. According to the reports, both Alyssa and her parents are still eager for her to continue studying and create a strong educational background.
During an interview with ESPN, Alyssa shared:
From the beginning, it’s always been something that if I’m going to go pro, I’m still going to get an education.
Much to the delight of Alyssa and her parents, Angel City FC has reportedly promised to help with her education.
