Famous Oakland based rapper Keak da Sneak reportedly got paralyzed and wound up in a wheelchair after surviving a pair of shootings back in 2017. Following his first shooting incident, Keak started carrying around a gun for protection. However, that ultimately led to a firearm charge for which he went on trial.

Keak was eventually targeted in a second shooting where he was shot eight times. He fell into a coma for three days following the shootings and was ultimately paralyzed. He has been bound to a wheelchair ever since.

After he woke up, he served a prison sentence and before coming out a few years later. Following his release, Keak revealed that he still suffers from severe, persistent pain in his lower body every day. However, he revealed that he was still thankful and shared:

I’m just so blessed, I’m happy, I’m free. God works in mysterious ways, I think He just wanted me to see how fast you can throw your life away, or throw your freedom away.”

Keak also credited a change.org petition with helping him get medical care when he was in prison.

I had my own cell, as far as on the medical level, they did. They was there for me. As far as my pain medication … they wasn’t really giving me no meds for pain [sic].”

Doctors state that they aren’t sure if the rapper will ever get to walk again, however, Keak still remains positive. He was quoted as saying:

This chair is going out the door, so my fans can look forward to me walking. I need a lot of support. Hard work and dedication, and there ain’t nothing but drama on the street after midnight, so with that being said, be indoors.”
