An agitated Lionel Messi exuberantly celebrated Emi Martinez saving a penalty from Yerry Mina as Argentina made it to the Copa America final
After years of heartbreak and floundering in the Copa America, the 2021 edition of the South American tournament could finally bring long yearned for solace for the country.
Sealing their berth into the marquee summit clash of the event with a win against Colombia, Argentina are one step closer to fulfilling their dream. However, its far from been a straightforward journey with the side being put to the sword on a raft of occasions.
The team found itself in a quandary against Colombia as well as the affair went all the way down to extra-time. A Lautaro Martinez strike was cancelled out by Colombia’s Barrios with extra-time rescuing to separate the two sides.
And given their poor track record in penalties with Messi often being the culprit himself, tension ran high in Argentina’s ranks on the night. However, Emi Martinez was quick to calm the jitters as he pulled off a heroic man of the match display.
The Premier League shot stopper parried away three Colombian penalties to give his side s 3-2 win on the night. However, the most notable one was that of CB Yerry Mina with both Emiliano Martinez and Mina indulging in a fracas before the penalty.
Lionel Messi Takes Swipe At Yerry Mina
The two exchanged words ensuing which Martinez dived to his left to stave away Mina’s effort. While Martinez’s thrust towards Mina caught the eyes proceeding the save, it was Lionel Messi’s reaction which has become the talk of the town.
The side’s top scorer in the Copa America bellowed, “How about dancing now” towards Mina as the Colombian defender saw his penalty be saved. The jibe by Messi was in reference to Mina breaking into a dance after converting his penalty against Uruguay.

Messi was extremely agitated all across the penalties with the player often witnessed anxiously cheering his team on. Messi had previously assisted Lautaro Martinez for Argentina’s only goal in the encounter. Messi vs Neymar will once again be on our tables when Argentina and Brazil lock heads in the final of Copa America 2021.
