Dragons are gonna roar again! HBO has officially announced the renewal of House of the Dragon for a 2nd season, within a week of its series debut, know the release date and casting details of season 2
The news came after the premiere episode broke viewership records and became the highest-watched premiere in the history of cable networks.

The House of the Dragons was the much-awaited prequel after the Game of Thrones. The show surely did live up to the expectations of fans as the fans are quite screen-glued after watching it.
House of Dragons Season 2 Announced
While announcing the renewal of the HOD for another season, Executive Vice President of programming at HBO, Francesca Orsi said in a statement, “We are beyond proud of what the entire House of the Dragon team has accomplished with Season 1.
Our phenomenal cast and crew undertook a massive challenge and exceeded all expectations, delivering a show that has already established itself as must-see-TV.”
He further added, “A huge thank you (to co-creator and executive producer George R.R. Martin and co-creator and showrunners Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik) for leading us on this journey.
“We couldn’t be more excited to continue bringing to life the epic saga of House Targaryen with Season 2.”
Although when the season will be renewed is still a question. As for the first season, it almost took a year for only filming and months of post production work, which is still ongoing.
So if everything goes well, we can expect Season 2 of the show by 2024.
However, even before the series premiere, the showrunner Miguel Sapochnik had hinted to us in an interview that the series might go on for multiple seasons.
At the time, he said, “We’ve chosen a story that’s almost like Star Wars: Episode IV. It’s the New Hope.
“We can go backwards, we can go forwards. There’s a lot of opportunities there. I hope we’ve been given the opportunity to set up something.”
Meanwhile the renewal of the show is also a positive sign for other GOT spin-offs in development at HBO. The network is planning at least 4 scripted shows based on the world created by George R.R. Martin.
These shows include a sea snake prequel, a Jon Snow centric project and a show based on Princess Nymeria which is set 1000 years before GOT.
Meanwhile, the HOD series which debuted on August 21 has reached 9.986 million viewers in the United States. Till Friday, Aug 26, the show has been watched by 20 million viewers.
The premiere of the show also went on to become the largest launch for HBO series in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
