The event occurred on Friday morning during morning training hours, according to Orlando Gutierrez, the director of track PR, while Alfredo Luevano was riding Fly From The Fire, a 2-year-old filly, on the backstretch.
As per a report by the Horse Racing Nation outlet, Luevano was training a horse on the backstretch on Friday morning, guided by Mark Casselman. He was lying on the ground getting medical attention however, it didn’t work. Alfredo failed to fight the death and was pronounced dead after being transported to Long Beach Memorial Hospital.
