2022 Hong Kong Masters Day 1 Quarterfinal Results, Scores, And Match Winners
On the opening day of the Hong Kong Masters, Marco Fu delighted the home audience by defeating four-time World Champion Mark Selby 5-2 to secure his spot in the semi-finals. John Higgins defeated Judd Trump for the first time in four years, winning 5-4 to advance to the semifinals of the Hong Kong Masters. The remaining two quarterfinal matches will be played on Friday with Neil Robertson scheduled to face Mark Williams, a late replacement of Zhao Xintong and Ronnie O’Sullivan set to face-off against Ng On Yee.
In his previous seven encounters with Trump dating back to the 2018 China Championship, Higgins had lost every time. During this clash, Higgins raced to an early lead of 3-1 but Trump fought back to overcome the deficit before managing to grab 4-3 lead over Higgins. However, Higgins kept his calm and forced a decider after winning eighth frame. In the decisive ninth frame, Higgins won comfortably and advanced to final-four where he is set to clash against Marco Fu.
The quarterfinal matches on October 7 will be best of nine frames, while the semifinal and championship matches on October 8 and 9 will be best of eleven frames. Top-tier domestic athletes and recognized players from around the world are expected to compete in an exciting exhibition game.

The winner of 2022 Hong Kong Masters will receive ยฃ100,000 in prize money, but the runner-up will only take home ยฃ45,000. From the competition’s ยฃ315,000 total prize fund, each participant will get at least ยฃ22,500 in cash as compensation and after his quarterfinal loss, Judd Trump also settled for ยฃ22,500 prize money.
