However, Harsha Bhogle’s ‘Vada Pav’ comment on live commentary faced criticism online, with fans expressing disappointment, feeling Rohit deserved a more fitting acknowledgment for his splendid performance against New Zealand.

Harsha Bhogle clarified that his comment wasn’t intended to belittle the Indian skipper but was a response to trolls who mock the batsman during lean patches. Despite this explanation, some fans remained dissatisfied with Bhogle’s choice of words.

For those unfamiliar, Harsha Bhogle, born on July 19, 1961, is a renowned Indian cricket commentator and journalist, earning acclaim in the global cricket broadcasting industry.

Starting his commentary career at the age of 19 with All India Radio in Hyderabad, Bhogle became the first Indian commentator invited by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in 1991–92.

He has covered India’s Australian tours for ABC Radio Grandstand and worked for the BBC during the 1996 and 1999 Cricket World Cups. Since 2009, Bhogle has covered all Indian Premier League seasons.

His tenure with the BCCI commentary team faced a setback in April 2016 due to alleged criticism from Indian players. Bhogle has hosted television programs like Harsha Online, Harsha Unplugged, and the School Quiz Olympiad for ESPN and Star Sports.

Married to Anita, his classmate from IIM Ahmedabad, Bhogle resides in Mumbai with their two adult sons. The couple jointly runs a sports-based communication consultancy.
