With the commencement of the 2023 FIH Men’s Hockey World on January 13th, India is preparing to host the biggest hockey event for the fourth time. The tournament will also see the opening of India’s biggest Hockey stadium, The Birsa Munda International Stadium.

Odisha will become the venue of the tournament for the second time. The event is going to be the biggest Hockey event of the year and several Bollywood stars and artists will light up the stage at the opening ceremony.
When will the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 Opening Ceremony Take Place?
The opening ceremony of the 2023 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup is going to be held on January 11. The opening ceremony is titled ‘Celebrations’ and will take place at the Barabati Stadium in Calcutta. The opening ceremony will feature various local artists, Bollywood stars and several performers lighting up the stage with the grand opening of the tournament.
Who is going to perform during the opening ceremony?
The opening ceremony of the FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup at the Barabati Stadium will feature live performances by Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh and Disha Patani, as well as BLACK SWAN, the popular K-Pop band including Odisha’s Shreya Lenka. The celebrationS will also promote Odisha’s culture through traditional Odia music and dance, as well as the utilisation of cutting-edge modern technologies.
Among those performing will be music composer Pritam, who wrote the hockey World Cup 2023 theme song, as well as vocalists Benny Dayal, Neeti Mohan, Lisa Mishra, Amit Mishra, Antara Mitra, Sreerama Chandra, Nakash Aziz and Shalmali Kholgade, and Namita Meleka from Odisha. The dance performances are choreographed by Guru Aruna Mohanty and National Award winner Shiamak Davar. Many Odia stars and entertainers will also appear at the event.
