In Monday’s 1-0 Intercontinental Cup triumph over Vanuatu, Indian skipper Sunil Chhetri once again demonstrated his brilliance on the pitch. Sunil Chhetri scored the game-winning goal for India in the 81st minute and earned the decisive victory for India, which has secured their berth in the tournament’s final with one match to spare. With this win, India have secured their second victory in as many games and remain the favorite to lift the title in front of their home crowd.
Meanwhile, Lebanon settled for 0-0 draw against Mongolia and sit in third-place with three-points less than second-placed Lebanon. On Thursday, India will play against Lebanon in their final league phase game and Mongolia will face-off against bottom-placed Vanuatu. Although Lebanon are the most likely team to fill the remaining spot for the final, Mongolia can snatch the position if results go their way.
