Cristiano Ronaldo will feature in the Europa League this season after Manchester United failed to qualify for the Champions League last season.

Heather O’Reilly comes out of retirement

O’Reilly stated in a podcast:

I had a long, successful, trophy-ridden career and I am very proud of that, but there was this one hole on my resume that I never played Champions League football. It was a disappointing end to my time over with Arsenal when I wrapped up with them in 2018, it irked me, it bothered me. It was always a thing in the back of my head.

After winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup and three Olympic gold medals with the USWNT in 231 appearances, Heather O’Reilly retired in 2019. However, she will now come out of retirement to join the Shelbourne Football Club in Ireland.

This gives her the opportunity to mark her debut in the Champions League this season. Taking advantage of the situation, O’Reilly posted the news about taking part in the tournament and trolled Ronaldo’s absence from the prestigious club event.

Manchester United failed to qualify for the Champions League last season, and Cristiano Ronaldo will unfortunately feature in the Europa League. This is a blow to the Portuguese forward as he has never missed the Champions League in decades.

Heather O’Reilly trolled Cristiano Ronaldo

Heather announced her participation in the Champions League this season on her official Twitter handle. While doing so, she couldn’t resist taking a crack at Cristiano Ronaldo and trolled the 37-year-old forward about not being able to participate in the Champions League.

Ronaldo currently plays for Manchester United, but his future has been in doubt for some time. This is due to the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League last season. Cristiano Ronaldo’s name has become synonymous with the Champions League and his absence is a blow, especially since he is nearing the end of his career.

Hopefully, the Portuguese legend and sports icon will not take the troll too seriously.
