Hardik began his career at MI back in 2015 and has since become a pivotal player with his all-round capabilities.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, who will be stepping down from the captaincy role, is the fourth-highest run scorer in IPL history. Throughout his IPL career, Rohit amassed a total of 6211 runs, with 3986 of those runs coming while serving as the MI captain. In his ten seasons as captain for MI, he has led the team to five IPL title wins.

Interestingly, while many are celebrating Hardik’s new appointment, many Mumbai Indians fans have not taken the captaincy announcement well. Notably, the Mumbai Indians official Instagram handle lost over 150,000 followers just 12 hours after the announcement. Moreover, fans have also gone out to express their dismay over the decision across all social media platforms. Some fans have also taken extreme measures by setting the Mumbai Indians jersey on fire. While fans are not angry with Hardik Pandya himself, they are saddened because MI chose to sack Rohit Sharma despite brining the team a lot of success.
