Moroccan International Hakim Ziyech has been sidelined for 3 to 4 months because of dislocated right shoulder caused by a collision with Juan Foyth. Meanwhile, Chelsea defeated Villareal in a hard-fought match by 6-5 on penalties.

Ziyech opened the scoring with a simple tap-in from a close range in the 27th minute at Belfast but was subbed off in the first half with a sling wrapped around his right shoulder. The Incident took place in the Chelsea penalty box in an aerial duel with Juan Foyth which left the Moroccan in agony.

He was administered oxygen on the field and had to watch the match through stands. However, Chelsea did not find it easy against the Europa League winners who looked determined and were a constant threat going forward.

28-years-old Hakim Ziyech was in form of his life in the pre-season games for Chelsea and became the crucial player of the team. However, his efforts were destroyed after suffering a major shoulder injury which will take him out of action for 3 to 4 months.

He dislocated his right shoulder by landing awkwardly after a challenge with Villareal defender Juan Foyth in the Chelsea penalty box. This is another setback in the career of Hakim Ziyech whose time with Chelsea was already plagued with so many injuries.

Speaking after the encounter, Chelsea supremo Thomas Tuchel spoke about the seriousness of the injury, comments which allude towards the player being out for a lengthy period.

Hakim Ziyech Career And Goals

Hakim Ziyech played most of his football in the Netherlands top division Eredivisie switching from team to team. His breakthrough in European football came with Ajax where he played for 4 seasons and was a crucial part of the team.

He was involved in the dream Ajax team which reached the semi-final of the 2019 UEFA Champions League by defeating heavyweights like Real Madrid and Juventus on the way. Premier League club Chelsea acquired his services in 2020 for a transfer fee of around €44 million.

Ziyech’s first season with Chelsea was plagued by injuries and was only able to feature in 23 Premier League games finding the net 2 times.

Now he is out again for 3 to 4 months and there are serious injury concerns over his future with the club. Thomas Tuchel seemed worried while talking to the media but sounded confident ahead of the Premier League opener at home against Crystal Palace.

Tuchel said,

“If you take a player out during the first half it is serious,” Tuchel told BT Sport. “Unfortunately, because he is a decisive player in the last games. Second half we were too passive, they equalised and deserved.”
