Reese Was Benched?

During Tuesday’s game against Kent State, Reese was benched in the second half despite LSU holding a two-point lead at halftime. Head coach Kim Mulkey, citing it as a “coach’s decision,” seemed validated as the Tigers went on to secure a 109-79 victory.

According to reports, Reese’s attitude was the reason behind her benching. Simultaneously, a public dispute unfolded on Instagram between Angel Reese Webb and Kia Brooks, Flau’jae Johnson’s mother, as reported.

Webb, seemingly addressing Flau’jae, wrote, “Folks pls do not send me long text msgs with a bunch of grammatical errors; it gives me a headache.” Brooks responded, “You definitely know about grammar errors when your daughter got a 2.0 or less GPA. Stop being petty, fake, and hateful, and take responsibility for you and your daughter’s actions.”

If Reese were to fall in the 1.8 or 1.9 GPA range, she would still be eligible to play and not qualify for the Wooden Award.

Despite their daughters’ reportedly close relationship, even rumored to be intimate, the moms find themselves in a less-than-amicable situation. Additionally, there are rumors of Reese facing a possible suspension for the upcoming game against Southeastern Louisiana on Friday night.

Who is Angel Reese?

Angel Reese, born on May 6, 2002, is a prominent American college basketball athlete representing the LSU Tigers in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Known by the moniker “Bayou Barbie,” Reese attended Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, earning McDonald’s All-American honors in 2020 and securing the second spot in her class ranking by ESPN.

Initially, Reese joined the Maryland Terrapins as the highest-ranked recruit in the program’s history. However, her freshman season in 2020–21 was marred by a fractured right foot.

Despite this setback, she garnered recognition as a third-team All-American by the Associated Press during her sophomore year. In a significant move, Reese transferred to LSU for her junior season and achieved unanimous first-team All-American status.

She played a pivotal role in leading LSU to its first national championship and was honored as the Most Outstanding Player.
