Our jersey is more than a uniform, it represents a canvas of Goan culture, according to Goa Guardians general manager Arup Soans
Panaji, September 2025 — The Goa Guardians, the latest team to join the upcoming Prime Volleyball League season, recently unveiled their maiden home kit embossed with a unique design that draws heavily from Goa’s celebrated Azulejos tilework, an iconic symbol of the coastal state’s cross-cultural influence.
The blue-and-white motifs of the jersey are intended to echo rhythm, resilience and the flow of the sport, while also anchoring the team’s identity in Goan heritage, inspired by Azulejos tilework that travelled from Portugal to Goa’s churches, homes and public squares, imprinting Iberian artistry onto the state’s coastal landscape.
“This jersey is a statement of pride,” said the team in an official statement. “Rooted in Goan heritage and powered by India’s volleyball dreams, the #AmcheGuardians are ready to take the court in style.”
General manager Arup Soans described the newly unveiled jersey as more than just a uniform. “Our jersey is more than a uniform, it’s a canvas of Goan culture. By weaving the iconic azulejos tiles into the design, we’re celebrating the state’s heritage and carrying a piece of Goa with us every time we step onto the court,” he said.
The home kit launch video features team co-owner and Indian cricketer KL Rahul donning the jersey for the first time, pairing Goa’s timeless cultural appeal with the ambition of Indian volleyball.
The Goa Guardians will sport the home kit in their debut Prime Volleyball League match on October 3, against the Bengaluru Torpedoes.
