Neeraj Chopra has talked about how Arshad Nadeem grabbing hold of his javelin lead to him losing out minutes during his first throw at the Tokyo Olympics
India’s golden boy after winning the country’s only second ever gold medal at the Olympics, Neeraj Chopra has been the talk of the town and rightfully so over the course of the last month. He’s been facilitated and honoured by a slew of state governments and organisations with people lining up to laud the Indian Army personnel.
Given the multitude of interviews he’s given since winning the javelin throw gold, almost every intricate detail of Neeraj’s triumph and life is now public property. However, one bit of detail which has unknown till now has finally come to light in Neeraj’s bygone interview.
The javelin thrower talked about how his gold medal had transpired and the set of events which had unraveled during it. He spoke about how he was forced to hurriedly take his first throw, the reason of which he has now spoken about.
Neeraj Chopra Opens Up On Arshad Nadeem Walking Around With His Javelin
Neeraj Chopra has revealed that Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem was walking around with his javelin as he frantically scoured for it prior to his first of seven throws at the Tokyo Olympics.
“The story is that I was searching for my javelin at the start of the final. I was not able to find it. Suddenly I saw Arshad Nadeem was moving around with my javelin. Then I told him, ‘Bhai give this javelin to me, it is my javelin! I have to throw with it’. Then he gave it back to me,” Neeraj Chopra said.
The story reeks of Pakistan’s disdain with India with it extremely likely that Arshad had decided to take over the javelin to deter Neeraj ahead of the final. With every thrower well versed with his javelin and aware of every last detail about it, its extremely tough to believe that Arshad had just picked up the javelin by chance.
Or he could have decided to steal it and help pay off some of the staggering debt Pakistan is in at the moment. Anything is plausible when it comes to clowns.
