The words “Get Well Soon Emma” were visible on the back of the warm-up shirts worn by Chelsea FC players against Aston Villa and Everton. The jerseys were worn to show respect for Chelsea Women’s manager Emma Hayes. Due to her long endometriosis fight, the 45-year-old Hyes said last week that she will be absent from the sidelines for the foreseeable future. As a result of endometriosis, she underwent an emergency hysterectomy.

Since I’ll be sitting at home watching the team on television until my return, I want to shout even louder at our supporters than I already do from the opposite side of the field every week. Using Twitter, Hayes posted

I know you’ll understand that my health comes first and that right now I need to put taking care of myself first.

“I fully anticipate making a good recovery and I am looking forward to seeing you soon.”

What are the signs and symptoms of endometriosis, and how does it affect the body?

Endometriosis, according to the NHS, is a disorder in which tissue resembling the womb’s lining develops in other places, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes. Period discomfort, heavy periods, and trouble becoming pregnant are typical symptoms.

All ages of women can be affected, though some are more severely afflicted than others. Endometriosis is thought to affect one in ten women, yet it often takes seven and a half years to be identified. Chelsea FC made a wonderful step in paying respect to women’s manager Emma Hayes, and we wish her a fast recovery.
