Davis, aged 28, has a current fight record of 27-0, 25 Kos, while Garcia, aged 24, has a 23-0, and 19 KOs. The fight will take place in April, however, both parties have not confirmed any official dates.

Gervonta Davis had earlier tweeted that he will first fight on January 7. The Baltimore-based boxer is set for a trial on February 16 for his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run incident, according to court records.

“Boxing needs this fight right now. It’s time for us to get back to what made this sport so great for the fans: Glamourous fights in places like Las Vegas, grudge match storylines, and most importantly – the best fighting the best,” Garcia tweeted.

Distribution And PPV Rights

According to reports, Showtime will produce and distribute the much-awaited Davis vs Garcia superfight. On the other hand, DAZN, which regularly streams Garcia’s fights, will offer the PPV for the match through its service.

Joe Markowski DAZN’s CEO of North America region tweeted that DAZN have an agreement in principle for the bout, but also that they have not exchanged contracts.

Ticket prices of the much-awaited bout will depend on the arena. However, for a clearer picture, ticketmaster.com reported that viewers may have to spend between $80 and $450 for tickets.

Gervonta Davis has previously won the International Boxing Federation’s Super Featherweight Championship in 2017. Davis is also a two-time WBA Super Featherweight champion and also the WBA Lightweight winner in 2019.

Davis, who is also known as Tank, had his most-recent wins against Isaac Cruz and Rolly Romero in 135-pound bouts.

A Career-Defining Fight

Ahead of the fight, Showtime Sports president Stephen Espinoza shared in a statement that Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia are two supremely talented boxers. Both fighters are in their prime and both possess huge fanbases.

The two are arguably meeting in a “career-defining fight”. Espinoza further shared that the bout is the epitome of a crossover boxing event. He also credited Tank and Ryan for staying the course and choosing to give the fans the fight they want.
