2023 Interwetten German Darts Grand Prix: Michael Smith vs Nathan Aspinall final results, score, & match summary
In a rematch of the Grand Slam of Darts final from November, Smith outplayed Aspinall at the Zenith Kulturhalle to win his first ranking championship since winning the World Championship in January. With a stunning 6-2 victory over Gerwyn Price to open play on Monday, Smith ended the Welshman’s chances of winning his third straight European Tour championship.
In the quarterfinals, the World Champion overcame the stern challenge of Keane Barry to win 6-4. Later, the World Champion defeated Damon Heta in a nail-biting semi-final match after surviving another match dart. This set up a tantalizing matchup against fellow Premier League star Aspinall, and Smith quickly took the lead, cruising into a 3-0 lead after the Stockport star missed six darts at double in leg one. Although Aspinall forced a comeback by making it 7-5, Smith held his nerve to win the 13th leg and clinch the title.
