This operation involved 5,000 police officers conducting simultaneous raids from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1,159 alleged criminal hideouts around the state. One individual was detained during these searches, and authorities also found 120 grams of heroin, an a.32-caliber revolver, and five live bullets.
A number of people were held for interrogation, and evidence was seized to conduct more research. The operation, personally supervised by senior police officers, was prompted by recent arrests related to various gangsters.
The searches were done in relation to the murder of well-known musician Sidhu Moosewala, which took place in Punjab’s Mansa region on 29 May, last year. Notably, Goldy Brar is the main suspect in the incident. Now, due to recent raids, he has again become a trending topic of discussion, with many people trying to find out more about him. Who is Goldy Brar?
Goldy Brar is a Canadian-based, Indian-born gangster. He has been in the news because Punjab police launched a big crackdown on those connected to him.
His real name is Satinder Singh, and he is a native of Sri Muktsar Sahib in Punjab and is a Sikh by religion. However, he is currently living in Canada. He embarked on a journey to Canada on a student visa in 2017. While his exact age is unknown, it is believed that he is between the ages of 30 and 40.
Brar is well known for being a close confidant of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and has admitted to being responsible for the murder of Sidhu Moosewala, a notable incident that received a lot of attention on social media. His purported social media remarks, in which he allegedly claimed that this high-profile assassination was carried out by his Punjabi criminal organization, went viral previously.
In another disturbing incident, Goldy Brar played a significant role in the murder of young Congress leader Gurlal Singh Pehalwan in February 2021 in Faridkot. Following this incident, a Faridkot court issued an open-ended, non-bailable arrest warrant for the gangster in March 2021.
Moreover, in May, Brar was apprehended by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of the Punjab police in Bhatinda.
