Gamini Singla has been ranked third in India in the UPSC (CSE) 2021 results, which were recently released, know her biography

On May 30, 2022, the UPSC released the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2021 results. According to the results, Shruti Sharma took first place, followed by Ankita Agarwal, Gamini Singla, and Aishwarya Verma in second, third, and fourth places, respectively.

Shruti Sharma, the AIR 1st rank holder is a former student of St. Stephens College and Jawaharlal Nehru University. Shruti, on the other hand, studied for an exam at Jamia Millia Islamia’s Residential Coaching Academy.

Gamini Singla, the third-place topper, is unique in that she is an engineer and also the one who is also not an alumnus of any Delhi-based college.

Since the results were released, she became well-known in her city, and many people wanted to know more about her because she had passed one of India’s most difficult exams. So, let’s find out more about her:

Who Is Gamini Singla?

Gamini Singla hails from Anandpur Sahib, Punjab and she recently hits headlines as she secured all Indian 3rd rank in UPSC CSE 2021 exams.

Her parents, Dr. Alok Singla and Dr. Neeraj Singla are both Himachal Pradesh government medical personnel, and her brother is an IIT Kharagpur graduate.

She graduated from Punjab Engineering College (PEC). She graduated from there in 2019 after completing her B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) and is aged 25 currently.

Professor Rajesh Bhatia, PEC, her teacher, described her as a “hardworking and sincere student.”  He further mentioned that throughout her time at PEC, she was the class representative.

How Did She Become A Topper?

While talking with the media, she stated that being an IAS officer was her childhood dream. She was self-studying and preparing at home from 2020 forward. Adding about how her father used to support her by reading the newspaper to save her time, she said,

My family, especially my father has helped me a lot emotionally and in studies as well.

She added,

We used to discuss about studies and he knew what was important for me. That has been a great help for me.

Her professor from PEC, Professor Rajesh Bhatia, also told the media that she was offered a job during campus placements but declined because she wanted to pursue civil service. He further stated that despite failing to pass the exam on her first attempt, she did not give up and kept working hard to pass the exam.
