Fulham will host Manchester City in this Premier League match day 38 clash at the Craven Cottage in London on 25th May
As of the time of writing, Fulham are 11th on the log with 51 points from 35 matches, while Manchester City are third on the log with 64 points from the same number of matches.
Fulham finished 13th in the league last term, and they were desperate to get something better this term. The Cottagers started the Premier League season with a narrow 1-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford. In the second league game of the season, Marco Silva’s side beat newly-promoted Leicester City 2-1 at the Craven Cottage. Smith Rowe’s opener was cancelled out by Wout Faes (Leicester City) before Alex Iwobi struck the winner 20 minutes from time. That win was backed up by another win – a two-nil triumph at Birmingham City in the League Cup before drawing their next two PL games. Back in the League Cup, Preston edged them in a dramatic penalty shootout after it finished 1-1 in normal time.
Marco Silva’s side won four of their next seven Premier League games to improve their position on the log. Fulham then lost just once in their next nine Premier League games, with six of those contests ending in stalemates. After that run, the West Londoners won two of the next four Premier League games, while also progressing to the next round of the FA Cup after beating Watford 4-1. Fulham continued to secure mixed results in the league, but made solid progress in the FA Cup as they dumped defending champions Manchester United out. They lost to Crystal Palace in the quarterfinals to end their fine run in the competition. At the time of writing, the Cottagers have won just twice in their six Premier League outings. They are set for another mid-table finish and will hope to get one fine result as the season comes to an end.
As for Manchester City, it has been a turbulent season for them with defeats and few wins. The Citizens lost influential midfielder Rodri to ACL, and that disrupted Pep Guardiola’s selections a lot. The Citizens struggled to get going, but were outclassed and outplayed by several teams. Manchester City also failed to find their consistency, and that has seen them relinquish the Premier League title to Liverpool.
In the UEFA Champions League, City struggled to get out of the group before being beaten by Real Madrid in the knockout round. In the League Cup, it was eventual winners Newcastle that knocked them out. Most recently, they beat Nottingham Forest to reach the FA Cup final for the third successive year. Guardiola and his boys will try to win this time, to end this disappointing season on a good note. At the time of writing, they are placed third on the log and one of the favourites for one of the Champions League slots.
“No,” Guardiola responded after being asked if the season would be considered a good one with the FA Cup win. “The damage would be minimum. It’s not going to confuse [that] the season has been good. The club has to take the decision, the right ones, so next season will be better.
“We are a thousand million points behind Liverpool. I said many times that the season hasn’t been good because we define if the season is good or not with the Premier League.
“This season it could not happen, at the same time we tried to avoid the damage. We have to be calm now and recover.”
The Citizens, and every other club fighting for the top four, know its importance, and that will make an interesting fixture to look forward to. Manchester City have won five of their past six matches in the league and are looking strong at the moment.
In the fixtures between the two teams, Manchester City have won the past 14 Premier League meetings. In addition, they have won on each of their past six visits to the Craven Cottage.

Andreas Pereira missed the recent trip to Villa, but could be back for this game, while Harrison Reed remains doubtful. Timothy Castagne and Reiss Nelson have been ruled out for the season, while Rodrigo Muniz, who is currently recovering from an Achilles injury, could make a return in this game as well. In terms of the other selections, the likes of Lukic, Bassey, Smith Rowe, and Robinson should be available for the visit of the Citizens.

At the time of writing, Rodri (ACL/fitness), Nathan Ake (foot), and Oscar Bobb (hamstring) all remain sidelined along with John Stones (thigh), but Erling Haaland is fit again after spending more than a month on the sidelines. Another boost for Manchester City is the return of Manuel Akanji, who could be given some minutes in this game as the Citizens look to secure a Champions League ticket.
Manchester City possible XI: Ederson; Nunes, Dias, Gvardiol, O’Reilly; Gonzalez, Gundogan, Bernardo; Marmoush, Haaland, Doku.
Prediction
Despite the flashes, Fulham and their fans will possibly be disappointed that they were not consistent enough in the season. At the time of writing, they have won two of their past three Premier League home games, including a win over champions Liverpool.
Similarly, Manchester City have blown hot and cold all through the campaign, but are still looking strong for a UCL ticket. City have won the past 14 PL meetings between them, so they have enough confidence to approach this encounter.
By the way, getting Fulham tickets could be a bit tricky as it is the season’s final game.
