Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2022 Leg 6 Format, Schedule, Date, Time
Some of the best chess players in the world will compete in the Champions Chess Tour 2022, also known as the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, a nine-month run of nine online chess events with a US$1.6 million prize pool. The trip will be from February 19 to November 20, 2022. The sixth leg of the $1.6 million Meltwater Champions Chess Tour will be the FTX Crypto Cup, the second main event. Eight of the world’s top chess players will compete in the tournament, which takes place from August 15 to August 21.

After Magnus Carlsen and Indian adolescent Praggnanandhaa both defeated their opponents today, the FTX Crypto Cup in Miami is now down to a tight two-horse race. As they extended their lead over the group with 3 point victories that brought them to 12/12 flawless scores, the two leaders appear to be impossible to catch. The talented young man Alireza Firouzja, who is currently third on the scoreboard on 8/12, is still vying for the FTX title. Polish World Cup champion Jan-Krzysztof Duda was defeated by Firouzja 2.5-1.5 in a wild encounter.
At age 17, Pragg once more proved he is the genuine deal by easily defeating Levon Aronian, a former American world champion in the blitz and quick events. For the third time in four rounds, Carlsen won 3-1 as Liem lost his composure. Anish Giri, the top-ranked Dutch player, defeated Hans Niemann by a score of 2.5-1.5 in another match.
Fifth round of the FTX Crypto Cup is slated for Friday at 12:00 ET (18:00 CEST) and each match will include of four quick games, with blitz tiebreakers used in the event of a 2:2 tie.

FTX Crypto Cup Chess Prize Money Pool Distribution
Magnus Carlsen or Pragg will be eligible for a total prize of $52,500 if they are successful in winning all seven of their games without needing a playoff round. Each match will have a $7,500 prize pool. A playoff’s victor would receive $5,000 while the loser would only receive $2,500. A $100,000 bitcoin incentive will also be provided in 2021 as part of the sponsorship perks by the leading cryptocurrency exchange FTX.
