Frank Lampard record, stats, contract details and salary as Chelsea manager

Chelsea new head coach till the end of the season is Frank Lampard, check out his manager record and stats in comparison to Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter

Now that Frank Lampard is back in the firing line till the end of the season after leaving for Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, there is a lot of interest in what he can accomplish with Chelsea’s excellent lineup.

Frank Lampard record, stats, contract length details and salary as Chelsea manager

Lampard has signed a short-term contract until the end of the season following the sacking of Graham Potter, having had discussions with directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart over the past 48 hours and the 44-year-old has been tasked with trying to lift the team’s ailing form and chart a route through the Champions League, with a looming quarter-final against Real Madrid to come. He has been given a contract as caretaker manager till the end of the season and while his salary isn’t known, he was paid 5 million pounds per year when he was the club’s manager last time.

The loss of Potter’s squad to Aston Villa in the Premier League provided additional proof that the Blues won’t be able to qualify for the Champions League this year.

Tuchel was fired after the season got off to a bad start. It was a decision that, with the benefit of hindsight, now seems hasty.

Given that he is currently the coach of Bayern Munich and Chelsea are suffering in the middle of the table, the German may feel as though he has gotten off a little easy in this situation.

Given the ongoing upheaval at the club, let’s compare Lampard’s initial tenure as Chelsea manager with those of his successor Tuchel and the recently retired Potter.

Frank Lampard’s record at Chelsea

Lampard was appointed manager of Stamford Bridge prior to the 2019–20 season. Up until 18 league games into the 2020–21 season, he held that status. Even though Chelsea had trouble maintaining consistency in its first season, it nevertheless managed to place fourth and get to the FA Cup quarterfinals.

The results were variable once more the next season, but they went in a more negative direction, and the former midfielder was fired while the Blues occupied the tenth spot in the Premier League.

Lampard managed Chelsea for 84 games, guiding the team to 44 wins, 15 ties, and 25 losses. There were 171 goals scored over that time span and 116 goals allowed, for a goal differential of 55 and a record-high 1.75 points per game for him.

Thomas Tuchel’s record at Chelsea

As soon as Lampard was let go, Tuchel took over at Chelsea, and he has had a respectable run so far.

In its first 14 games in all competitions, Chelsea did not suffer any defeats. During that time, Wolves, Southampton, Manchester United, and Leeds were all tied four times.

They only dropped five games the rest of the 2020–21 season, one of which was a Champions League second leg loss to Porto that nevertheless allowed them to proceed.

Chelsea’s performance in the Premier League allowed Tuchel to lift them up to fourth position. Then, he went above and above by winning the Champions League, which looked inconceivable earlier in the season.

The following season, the Premier League experienced a little breakthrough as Chelsea finished third after two consecutive fourth-place finishes.

They didn’t win the FIFA Club World Cup or the UEFA Super Cup, but they did lose the FA Cup and Carabao Cup finals. They also suffered defeat in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

Even for Chelsea, Tuchel’s 2022–23 season got off to a rough start, so the firing was unexpected. With three wins, two losses, and a draw, the Premier League season got off to a strong start, but Tuchel’s final game was the Champions League group stage opener away at Dinamo Zagreb, which ended in a shock 1-0 loss.

With Todd Boehly as owner now, it seemed like Chelsea had even less tolerance for mistake than usual as the new season got off to a rocky start.

Having played in 99 games, Tuchel departed from Chelsea. The Blues played in 62 of them, drew 19, and lost 18. After scoring 195 goals and surrendering 105, they had a goal differential of 90. 2.07 points per game set a record that surpassed Lampard’s previous high.

Graham Potter’s record at Chelsea

Potter is the coach whose tenure with the team leaves the fewest data points to analyse. He took control soon after Tuchel was let go and enjoyed a prosperous debut at Chelsea.

After a 1-1 draw at home against RB Salzburg, wins came from Crystal Palace, AC Milan, Wolves, Milan once more, and Aston Villa.

He lost his first game ten games into his Chelsea career, a devastating 4-1 defeat against Brighton, the team he left to accept the Chelsea role.

They then won against Dinamo Zagreb at home, but after defeats to rivals Fulham and Man City in the league and FA Cup, everything started to fall apart.

In the end, Potter’s losing streak of 11 games in a row across all competitions proved catastrophic. Leeds and Leicester’s league victory over Borussia Dortmund and Leeds’ advancement in the Champions League were quickly undone by a draw with Everton and a 2-0 loss at home to Aston Villa.

Boehly pulled the trigger once again because it was clear that nothing was improving.

Potter played 31 games, 12 of which he won, 8 he drew, and 11 he lost. Sadly, the goal difference was only +2, with 33 goals scored and 31 goals conceded. A record low of 1.42 points per game were scored.
