FPL 2023/24 Gameweek (GW) 1 transfer tips, team selection, captain picks, fixtures list

Goal-keeper

Sam Johnstone ( Crystal Palace – £4.5m) was able to make the most of his limited game time resulting in 26 saves and 3 clean sheets in 9 games which can only elevate his contributions in the opening match.

Defenders

Sven Botman ( Newcastle United – £4.5m) is improving with every passing match and the last season proved to be his best in the league with 2 assists and defensive efforts that earned him 13 clean sheets.

Gabriel Magalhães ( Arsenal – £5.0m) was a defensive rock for Arsenal last season with a strong blend of attack and defense which could prove vital in their opening match of the season.

Pervis Estupiñán ( Brighton – £5.0 m) seemed more focused on his attacking improvements throughout the last season resulting in 1 goal and 7 assists further backed up by 10 clean sheets.

Midfielders

Eberechi Eze ( Crystal Palace – £6.5m) was among the players who managed to make impressive developments in their playing style which resulted in 10 goals and 5 assists and can further push him to maintain his threat against newly promoted Sheffield United.

Kevin de Bruyne ( Manchester City – £10.5m) is a no-brainer considering his influence on the attacking game which earned him 7 goals and 18 assists similar to his 2018-19 season with City which makes him our prime choice for this encounter.

Mohamed Salah ( Liverpool- £12.5m) was rising up against the odds despite a poor performance by the team he excelled in scoring 19 goals and 13 assists which highlights his consistent perfomance.

Bukayo Saka ( Arsenal- £8.5m) holds immense potential and the understanding of the team and his playing style could see him push for a better outcome after he was able to score 14 goals and 12 assists.

Forwards

Erling Haaland (Manchester City – £14.0m) felt like a cheat code throughout the last season as the young Norwegian striker scored a record-breaking 36 goals and 9 assists in his debut season which makes him our prime choice for this encounter.

Nicolas Jackson ( Chelsea – £7.0m) has shown amazing improvements in the pre-season matches with 2 goals and 3 assists earning the badge ahead of his official premier league debut.

João Pedro ( Brighton – £5.5 m) was unable to showcase his talents in the last season but his move to Brighton could provide him with better opportunities to make the most of his form in their opening game against newly promoted Luton.

Substitutes

Alphonse Areola ( West Ham United – £4.0m) is not getting the game time he needs to maintain his performance which can only make his appearance unlikely in their match against Bournemouth.

Issa Kaboré ( Luton – £4.0m) will make his way from Ligue 1 after scoring 1 goal in the last season which can allow him to push his limits with an improved form in this contest.

Carney Chukwuemeka ( Chelsea – £4.2m) was able to provide 1 clean sheet in 2 appearances last season and with the sudden change in management and squad his contributions in the pre-season provided a better insight into his potential.

Jordan Beyer ( Burnley – £4.0m) scored 1 goal and provided 3 assists in the Championship last season and has provided amazing performances in the Bundesliga which can be witnessed in his first premier league season.
