Premium players like Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah, Heung-Min-Son, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Harry Kane are essential choices for many managers. However, these players can put a dent in your ยฃ100 million budget. Hence, choosing the right budget players allows you to add premium players while also filling up the team without compromising your points.

Fantasy Premier League: Best Budget Players for the FPL 2022/23 Season

Plenty of budget players brought in lots of points in the last FPL season. Here is a look at some of the best FPL budget players:

FPL Bestย  budget defenders

Matty Cash (ยฃ5.0)

Aston Villa right-back Matty Cash scored the highest points last season for players under ยฃ6m with a massive 147 points.

Last season, the Polish defender managed to keep 13 clean sheets and played more minutes than any other defender.

More than 20% of FPL managers have already included him in their squads for the new season.

Neco Williams (ยฃ4.0)

The 21-year-old Welshman, Neco Williams, has proved to be one of the most popular budget defenders ahead of the new season. Williams joined newly promoted side Nottingham Forest from Liverpool in July for a ยฃ17m fee.

The defender spent half of the 2021โ€“2022 season on loan at Fulham. At ยฃ4m, Williams is a clear value for money player and is the fourth-most popular defender with 27.5% ownership.

Kieran Trippier (ยฃ5.0)

England international Kieran Trippier was one of the stars of last season after joining Newcastle in a January transfer.

The full-back played an important role for the Magpies as the team pushed their way up from the relegation zone.

After coming midway into the season from Atletico Madrid, Trippier proved a valuable asset, scoring the third-most points-per-game of any defender priced under ยฃ5.5m.

Interestingly, Trippier scored over 100 points in consecutive seasons for Spurs before leaving the Premier League to join Atletico Madrid.

FPL Best budget midfielders

Andreas Pereira (ยฃ4.5)

Andreas Pereira is definitely a gamble for FPL managers going into the new season. The Brazilian international is undoubtedly a great player but has never featured in a full season in the Premier League. His last two seasons were spent on loan spells with Flamengo and Lazio, and even before that he was on loan at different clubs.

Andreas Pereira spent eight seasons at Manchester United before joining Fulham in the summer for a ยฃ10m fee. At his new club, he is expected to receive plenty of game time.

The 26-year-old has been a popular pick so far, with almost 25 percent of ownership among FPL managers.

Said Benrahma (ยฃ6.0)

Last season, Algerian winger Benrahma scored the most points per match out of all the players in the ยฃ6m bracket.

Besides his excellent form, Benrahma also managed to score eight goals and bagged six assists. He played a major role for West Ham as they threatened the top four several times last season.

Moreover, West Ham have a favourable set of opening fixtures which will further prove Benrahma as a valuable asset.

The Hammers begin their campaign against Manchester City at home, whom they almost beat in May, and later take on Nottingham Forest, Brighton, and Aston Villa, respectively.

Rodri (ยฃ6.0)

Spanish international Rodri is just slightly behind Benrahma, having played the fifth-most minutes of any midfielder for a top-six team.

The 26-year-old midfielder scored seven goals and bagged two assists, besides earning more than 100 points in FPL. He played a crucial role in helping City retain the Premier League title.

Rodriโ€™s role as a defensive midfielder can be unfavourable at times, especially with Pep Guardiola’s unpredictable selections. Despite this, Rodri finished just 10 points behind Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez, who are comparatively more expensive.

FPL Bestย  budget strikers

Bryan Mbeumo (ยฃ6.0)

In the 2021โ€“2022 season, French striker Mbeumo featured as a midfielder and scored the tenth-most points of any current forward.

The 22-year-old set up seven assists while also scoring on four occasions himself, helping Brentford steer above the relegation zone.

However, things may not be as smooth this season after the sale of Christian Eriksen. Moreover, Mbeumo will also produce fewer points, most likely now that he is a striker. His points for each goal will be reduced by one, and he will not receive any points for clean sheets.

Chris Wood (ยฃ6.0)

Chris Wood has also been a sensational player like Trippier after joining the Magpies for a ยฃ25m fee in January.

Newcastle manager Howe described Wood as an important player for his rebuilding plans, and the managerโ€™s choice has paid off.

Even after joining mid-season, Wood finished with 91 points. This puts him well ahead of strikers like Eddie Nketiah and Anthony Martial, who are currently priced at ยฃ1 million more than him.

Che Adams (ยฃ6.5)

Scottish striker Che Adams scored 103 points last season, which was second among players now priced at under ยฃ7m.

Moreover, his 103 point tally is around 34 points lower than his 2020 – 21 point tally. This demonstrates some form of consistency and suggests that Adams is a safer gamble than Bournemouthโ€™s Dominic Solanke.

Solanke scored 30 times in the 2nd tier last season. Despite this, he has consistently struggled to find the net during Premier League stints with the Cherries and former club Liverpool.

As of now, Forest are reportedly keen on signing Adams, which would mean great news for FPL managers.
