Fire Emblem Engage New Zealand release time trick

Fire Emblem Engage does not feature early access pre-order bonus. However, fans can try to play it one day earlier on 19 January by using the New Zealand, Australia, or Japan release time trick.

This is because Nintendo Switch exclusives launch at 00:00 local time for each region. This means that Fire Emblem Engage will launch at 00:00 NZDT on January 20, which translates to 03:00 PT, 06:00 ET, and 11:00 GMT on 19 January.

Given below are the steps to gain Fire Emblem Engage early access using the New Zealand release time trick:

  • Register and create a new Nintendo account
  • Choose either New Zealand, Australia, or Japan as your country/region of residence.

Things to keep in mind

Players should not that they will not be able to use their credit card for the New Zealand Nintendo store. This goes the same for Australia, or Japan and as such, players will need to purchase gift codes online.

Currently, Playtech offers $15 and $30 gift cards for NZ, while the game costs $89.95 on the NZ eShop. Players who opted for Japan can get Japanese Nintendo gift cards from playasia,  while the game will cost ¥6,500 on the eShop. Players can also obtain gift cards for Australia at G2A too.

Despite how tempting it may be, the New Zealand time trick is not recommend for Nintendo unlike on Xbox. This is simply because players who change their account region will have to play Fire Emblem Engage on their new region all the time.

Moreover, purchasing gift cards for other regions will actually cost players much more than just buying a digital copy of the game regularly.

However, players who wish to create a second account for a different region can use the early access time trick. In such cases, Japan is probably the best-recommended pick because the Japanese Nintendo eShop offers great exclusive games.
