2023 Women’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup India vs Belgium schedule, latest results, score, & updated standings
On Thursday, Belgium emerged victorious against Canada at the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup 2023. Despite challenges in converting penalty corners, Belgium secured a decisive 8-0 win that led to Canada’s elimination from the competition. Astrid Bonami (3′ & 49′), Louise Dewaet (36′ & 39′), and Marthe-Marie Geerts (43′ & 52′) each netted two goals, while Maura Cornelissens (7′) and Perrine Declerck (11′) added one goal each to the scoreboard.
In a fiercely contested match in Pool C, India went head-to-head with Germany. Annu (11′) and Ropni Kumari (14′) secured a 2-0 lead for India using penalty corners by the end of the first quarter. However, Germany initiated a comeback in the second quarter, scoring field goals courtesy of Sophia Schwabe (17′) and Laura Plüth (21′). Mumtaz Khan (24′) promptly responded, ensuring India regained the lead as the teams headed into halftime.
In the third quarter, Laura Plüth (36′) and Carolin Seidel (38′) contributed goals for Germany, resulting in a 4-3 victory over India. This win marked Germany’s first triumph in the tournament. This Saturday, India is set to compete against Belgium, while Germany will go head-to-head with Canada. It’s worth noting that the two leading teams from Group C will secure their spots in the quarterfinals.
