Participating Teams, Countries And Format
Like in 2018, there will be 16 teams participating in the competition. The host nation, Spain, and the Netherlands will all receive automatic spots in addition to the five regional champions. When the 2020 Summer Olympics were postponed, the number of berths made available through continental championships—including the World Cup hosts—was expanded from six to sixteen. 2022 Women’s FIH Hockey World Cup India vs Spain Results, Score, Standings, Quarterfinal Schedule, Date, Time, And Venue
India suffered a heartbreaking loss in the crossover game when, with just over 200 seconds remaining before the final buzzer, the team gave up a goal. The first three quarters of the game were closely contested, but the hosts pulled off a remarkable performance in the fourth, outplaying and outlasting the Indian players on the field to secure a place in the quarterfinals. Spain will now play the powerful Australians for a spot in the semifinals, while India will play Canada on July 11 for a spot in the 9th- to 16th-place classification match.
For India, this tournament has been one of squandered opportunities. Even their customary level of effort was lacking today in the third quarter, which let Spain simply settle into the contest. Even though the hosts left it very late, it seemed like there would only be one winner in the final period. When India enters the 9-16 classification phase, they will play Canada on July 11 and will be hoping to finish at a position as high as possible.
With two games finishing in draws (both 1-1 against England and China), India’s primary tournament campaign came to a close without a victory. The other two games resulted in closely contested loss for India in which they lost 3-4 to New Zealand and a 1-0 loss to China.
