2022 Women’s FIH Hockey World Cup India vs Japan Results, Quarterfinal Updates, Score, Standings, Semi-final Schedule, Date, Time, And Venue
On Wednesday, India defeated Japan 3-1 to finish ninth in the FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup, thanks in large part to a brace from Navneet Kaur. In the classification game, Navneet scored two field goals, and Deep Grace Ekka scored once from a set piece. Yu Asai’s goal for Japan in the 20th minute was the only one scored by Japan.
Yu Asai’s penalty corner conversion in the 20th minute gave Japan the advantage. When Navneet scored off a field attempt just before halftime, India pulled even. Eight minutes into the second half, India won a penalty corner, and this time Ekka scored to give her team the lead.
India absolutely controlled the third quarter as they drastically improved their performance to trouble the Japanese defense, which led to Navneet’s second goal toward the conclusion. The fourth and final quarter saw more of the same from India, with Vandana being denied once more by the Japanese goalie. In the latter minutes, Japan made a valiant effort but was unable to get past the staunch Indian defense.
