Participating Teams, Countries And Format
The competition will feature 16 teams, just like in 2018. Along with the five regional champions, the host nation, Spain, and the Netherlands will all be given automatic places. The number of slots made available through continental championships—including the World Cup hosts—was increased from six to sixteen when the 2020 Summer Olympics were postponed. 2022 Women’s FIH Hockey World Cup India vs Canada Results, Score, Standings, Quarterfinal Schedule, Date, Time, And Venue
The Indian women’s hockey team, captained by Savita Punia, won the Women Hockey World Cup classification match for a chance at higher position finish. During the match, India defeated Canada by a score of 3-2 after a shootout. India eventually prevailed in the shootout despite Canada taking a 2-0 lead after goalkeeper Harris made some vital stops. After the win, India will now compete for positions 9 through 12 and play Japan on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Korea and Canada will now compete for positions 13 through 16.
Salima Tete scored the equalizer for India in the final minute of regulation after Madeline Secco had scored for Canada in the eleventh minute. Navneet Kaur, Sonika, and Neha all scored to give India its first victory of the competition. Savita, who put on a spectacular performance, made a total of six saves in the shootout. After the win, India will now go to the 9th/11th classification match against Japan, which is managed by Jude Menezes, a former India goalkeeper.
