The Netherlands has won two of the three FIH Pro League women’s titles so far, while Australia, Belgium, and the Netherlands have each won a men’s title, know the all time FIH Pro League winners list

The latest big-ticket tournament on the international hockey calendar is the FIH Pro League. The FIH Pro League, which began in 2019 with a men’s and women’s version, invites nine of the finest teams from around the world to compete.

Each team played 14 league matches in the 2019 edition, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals and a final determining the victor.

The Netherlands won the first FIH Pro League for women, defeating Australia in a penalty shootout in the final. After beating Belgium 3-2 in the final, Australia won the first men’s FIH Pro League.

Starting in the 2020-21 season, the FIH Pro League will be played in a round-robin style, in which each team plays the other twice – at home and away – and the team that scores after 16 league matches is crowned champion.

Because a lot of matches were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the 2020-21 season, the victor was determined using a points percentage system.

A team receives three points for winning and one point for a tie in the FIH Pro League. Any match that ends in a tie is sent to a penalty shoot-out, with the penalty shoot-out winners receiving a bonus point.

The points percentage of a team was derived by dividing its total points by the total points available.

Belgium won the FIH Pro League for men in 2020-21, with a points percentage of 76.19. (having won 32 of the 42 points in the 14 matches they played).

In 2020-21, the Netherlands won their second FIH Pro League title, winning 88.9% of their points total (they won 32 points out of 36 in their 12 matches).

In the 2020-21 season, the Indian men’s hockey team has made its FIH Pro League debut, placing fourth with a points percentage of 62.5. They came in third place in the FIH Pro League 2021-22.

While the FIH is yet to declare the prize money given to the winners, it has generated close to $150 million in four years from the competition.
