At the Kalinga Stadium on Sunday, India’s captain Harmanpreet Singh led India to shoot-out victory over Spain by score of 3-1 following 2-2 tie in regular time. With this win, India has climbed to top of standings with 8 points in 4 games.

Men’s FIH Pro League India vs Spain Results, Score, Winner, & Upcoming Schedule
In the eleventh minute, Harmanpreet clipped the ball beyond goalkeeper of Spain to score India’s first goal. Later in the 31st minute, Indian captain converted a penalty corner to score his second goal of the match. However, Spain came one goal away from tying the score when Indian goalie Krishnan Pathak failed to read flick from Marc Miralles in the 42nd minute and allowed Spain to score their first goal. Pere Amat attempted to pass one to Pathak, but it struck Jugraj Singh’s thigh and bounced into the goal, bringing Spain’s score to 2-2 in the 54th minute.
Harmanpreet scored in the shootout after Mario Garin, the Spanish goalkeeper, was fouled. Raj Kumar Pal and Abhishek were the only players to successfully slide the ball past Garin, as Shamsher Singh’s back stick hit the ball and prevented him from scoring. Pathak, on the other hand, managed to stop Joaquin Menini, Rafael Vilallonga, and Miralles from scoring, helping India win the shootout 3-1 despite missing Gerard Clapes’ attempt.
Germany’s match against last-place Belgium on November 7th will be an attempt to extend their winning streak. In the meanwhile, India will take a long hiatus before facing Germany on March 10, 2023. India has won three games so far in the 2022–23 FIH Pro League, including one victory through penalty shootout, for a total of eight points after four games.

This prestigious competition, which will be contested in a round-robin format with home and away games from October through July, will feature nine teams. The team with the most points at the end of the season will be crowned the winner, while the team with the fewest points will be dropped to the FIH Nations league.
