The inaugural FIH Hockey Men’s Nations Cup will be held in South Africa, according to the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The North-West University of Potchefstroom, which hosted the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup in April of this year, will host the event from November 28 to December 4, 2022.

2022 Men’s FIH Hockey Nations Cup Objective, Schedule, Dates, And Venue
The inaugural Men’s FIH Hockey Nations Cup, an annual qualifying competition for the Men’s FIH Pro League run by the International Hockey Federation, will take place in 2022. From November 28 to December 4, 2022, the competition will take place at the NWU Astro in Potchefstroom, South Africa. The victor will have the opportunity to advance to the FIH Pro League’s 2023–2024 season.
The purpose of this new yearly competition is to provide the top-ranked teams outside of the FIH Hockey Pro League with a high-level competition and to give the victorious team the opportunity to be promoted to the FIH Hockey Pro League the following season.
2022 Men’s FIH Hockey Nations Cup Hosts, Participating Teams, And What’s at Stake
With the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup they hosted in Potchefstroom earlier this year, South Africa demonstrated their ability to host events of the highest caliber. All parties engaged gave the North West University facilities excellent praise for their extraordinary quality. The FIH chose Potchefstroom to host the FIH Hockey Nations Cup, which made the hosts happy.
The FIH Hockey Nations Cup will serve as the official launch of the promotion-relegation system for the FIH Hockey Pro League, with the victorious side having the opportunity to be promoted to the FIH Pro League’s 2023–24 season provided they meet the necessary requirements for it.
The first edition will include the following eight teams, including some of the hockey world’s powerhouses, who qualified based on their standing in the May 2021 edition of the FIH World Rankings: South Africa, France, Canada, Japan, Korea, Ireland, Pakistan, and Malaysia.
