2023 Men’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup latest results, India vs Netherlands score, & Quarter-Final results
Ranked fourth globally, the Netherlands took the lead early in the first quarter as Timo Boers converted a penalty corner. Despite India’s strong defensive efforts, Pepijn van der Heijden increased the Netherlands’ lead to 2-0 with another penalty corner conversion in the second quarter. India, ranked third worldwide and a two-time former FIH Hockey Junior World Cup champion, mounted a robust comeback in the third quarter.
Aditya Lalage, assisted by Araijeet Singh Hundal, scored a goal, and shortly after, Araijeet leveled the score with a penalty stroke. Despite the continuous pressure from the Indian team, the Dutch capitalized on another penalty corner, with Olivier Hortensius scoring late in the third quarter, securing a narrow one-goal lead for the Netherlands.
In the last 10 minutes, India heightened their gameplay, leading to a successful attack where Sourabh Anand Kushwaha netted a rebound, leveling the score at 3-3. Capitalizing on another chance for a penalty corner conversion, India seized the opportunity, and captain Uttam Singh scored three minutes before the game’s conclusion. Rohit’s exceptional performance earned him the Player of the Match accolade.
India is gearing up to confront Germany in the first semi-final of the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2023 on Thursday. Meanwhile, Spain will face-off against France on Thursday with a spot in the championship game at stake. As per the official schedule, the final will take place on 16th December.
