The FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 will be the 15th edition of the coveted Men’s Hockey World Cup. The International Hockey Federation will host the competition, which will take place in Odisha, India. The competition will feature 16 teams from 5 confederations competing for the coveted World Cup title.

From January 13 to 29, the fifteenth edition of the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup will be contested in Bhubaneshwar and Rourkela. The World Cup games will be held at Kalinga Stadium and Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium. As India is the host country, supporters all throughout the country are rooting for India to win the trophy. Hockey India has named an 18-man World Cup squad, led by Harmanpreet Singh.
FIH Men’s World Cup 2023 India Squad
Team India has been drawn in Pool B and will begin their World Cup campaign on January 13 against Spain. Hockey India named the 18-man squad on Sunday, with Hanmanpreet Singh leading the team. Amit Rohida, on the other side, has been named vice-captain. The selection was based on a two-day trial held at the Sports Authority of India (SAI). In all, 33 players were put through tryouts, with 18 of them selected to represent India in the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023.
The group is comprised of both young and veteran players. Manpreet Singh led India to a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 and will now lead the squad in the World Cup. Krishan B Pathak and PR Sreejesh will be competing in their fourth World Cup and third in their home country. Vivek Sagar, a youngster, has also returned to the team following an ankle injury. Mandeep Singh and Lalit Kumar will lead the offensive line alongside Sukhjeet Singh and Abhishek. The two replacement members will be Rajkumar Pal and Jagraj Singh.
